What type of aquarium filter should i buy?

you_broked_by_ugly_stick_bitch asked:

I am going to buy a 10 gallon aquarium and put a chinese algae eater, 2 male swordtails, 1 male and 1 female dwarf gourmis, an albino rainbow shark, and 2 nerite snails. The aquarium will have a 5 inch bubble stone and a 15 gallon air pump. The aquarium will be heated to 78 degrees. There will be no live plants. I am leaning towards getting an aqua-tech 5-15 gallon box filter, but im not sure. I have heard alot of good things about bio-wheels. Im completely lost over wut kind of filter i should have. You guys always like specifics, hope that was specific enough, lol. Thanks for any answers!

Can fish in an aquarium see the people looking at them through the glass?

Friday, December 28th, 2007
samayel70 asked:

When I go the the aquarium, I always wonder if the fish can see me (or the other people) looking at them.
I don’t mean from the open top of a small aquarium… I mean through the extremely thick glass of a public aquarium. We can see the fish, but I didn’t think they could see us because of the way the water affects the refraction of light… or something like that.
Yes I’ve been to an aquarium, it’s not a stupid question. Again, I’m talking about looking through the VERY thick glass wall… not through the open water, or a small inhome aquarium.

How can accelerate the first nitrogen cycle in an aquarium?

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007
Monkey Chunks asked:

Hello. I was wondering if the following method can work.
My 10 gallon aquarium had water in it and two small fish for a week. According to tests the water has very little nitrate nitrites. I bought a cooked shrimp , put it in a jar, then poured the aquarium water over it. In one day the water became cloudy. I am thinking , can the needed bacteria develop there . And afterwards could I pour it in the aquarium?

Thanks, any advice is appreciated.

Ashlei asked:

I heard a one gallon aquarium will do for now until it starts to grow, but that sounds too small. Anyone know what size aquarium I need? Thanks.
